Sakura Festival Copenhagen 2026

This was a publicly accessible event and as such if you find yourself in these pictures and would like to be blurred out, please reach out to me via email or social media (Check my About page)

The blooming cherry blossoms

The Sakura Festival returns to Østerport again and as usual the blooming flowers are beautiful, the vibe is Japanese pop culture and historical rituals and facts, and the place is absolutely packed with people! The event has definitely grown over time and it might actually have outgrown where it takes place. But it would be hard to move as the Sakura trees would not be there so what the future holds for this event is anyone's guess.

Traditional dancing was taking place on the big stage which people got to join after in front of the stage.

On the main stage they showed us Kendo, Traditional Dance, Singing, Martial Arts and later, which I didn't get to attend, a concert would take place based on popular animes.

I'm not sure what her name is, but my guess is Denmark-chan? I have seen her with this cosplay at the Copenhagen Comic Con as well.

You see cosplays everywhere of all kinds of characters. Furries, animes, mangas and even cosplays that don't relate to Japanese pop culture at all, however the effort always shines through

If you've never been you should definitely check it out at least once!
